2-input; 4 output (two microphone preamps) 24-bit/96KHz USB audio interface with direct monitoring and internal AA battery power option.
The new AMS series low-cost audio interfaces from Zoom offer an exceptional value, with very flat frequency response that we've tested to exceed factory specifications and low-noise, high-gain, mic preamps that will result in excellent sensitivity when used with our hydrophones. Each offers full 48V phantom power that is compatible with any of our hydrophones or amplifiers with XLR output.
They are very compact and all can be powered from the USB bus or an external USB battery pack (note that phones and tablets may not provide power to external devices). Additionally, the AMS-24 and AMS-44 can be powered from AA batteries.
Compact and simple headphone amplifier:
With the "Direct Monitor" switch set to "on", these audio interfaces can be used as a simple mic pre/headphone amp for listening to underwater sound without the use of a computer. This "Direct Monitor" switch can also be used as a mute switch for applications like leak finding, where the hydrophone is being moved around a lot. The headphone or 1/4" outputs can also be connected to a line or "AUX" input of a marine stereo or powered speaker.
Audio interface to computer or phone:
When connected by USB to your computer, these will allow you to do real-time spectral analysis or recording using any of hundreds of available applications--many being very low-cost or free. Aquarian does not attempt to evaluate software options and does not sell or support any specific tools. These are also class-compliant audio devices that should work with phones, tablets and development boards, such as Raspberry Pi. Check your cable and power requirements. Performance may be limited to lower sampling rates when used without the Zoom driver.
Included with the AMS-24:
- AMS-24 USB Audio Interface
- USB-C Cable
- Quick Tour
